My aim for Victoria and Clapham Junction was to bring the capital closer together , showing different parts of London relate geographically to each other, changing the scale and put more focus on London's iconic buildings.
Bottom right of drawing: The Flying Scotsman, made a visit to Victoria in 2018, the steam set the fire alarms off at the Station.
A selection of Conkers can be found inside the grounds of Buckingham Palace: My Grandfather Henry Hiles was a great decorator and helped decorate Buckingham Palace in the 1950S. He would ask the gardeners' to collect conkers from the grounds, for my father to play conkers at School in Islington in the early 1950s.
My green 1964 Beetle can be found hidden somewhere in my drawings from 2012 onwards.
A small Tribute to "The Cocteau Twins" a band I loved at Art Student back in the early 1980s and still listen to now.
As with all my work, only the classic Route master London buses are featured, for several reasons:
1. The red highlights help your eye move around the drawings as they stand out from the contrasting black and white.
2. They are iconic and symbolise London
3. My Father was a London bus driver when I was a child, I remember sitting behind the drivers cab with my Dad driving through North London.
